To be considered for ordination to the priesthood, individuals will either come educationally prepared, or will complete requisite training. Recognizing that priests within the Autocephlaous Catholic Movement are most often working clergy (i.e. the hold down full time jobs in addition to their ministry), the educational requriements for ordination do not reqired an Masters of Divinity.
Individuals will be considered for ordinaiton to the priesthood with the following qualificaitons:
Option 1) Submit documentation of relevant degrees or formal tranining in theology, religious, or pastoral studies. Then complete a specific unit of pastoral studies related to desired area of ministry as part of the application process.
Option 2) A former monastic who completed the novitiate year. These individuals will then need to complete four required courses at Trinity School of Ministry, or some agreed upon course of study related to theology or pastoral studies. [This option recognizes the educational experiences of the novitiate]. Additional study, based on pastoral assessment of Bishop LeBlanc.
Option 3) For those not coming from a monastic tradition: complete the training program for the deaconal ministry of the denomination. Then complete four required courses at Trinity School of Ministry, or some agreed upon course of study related to theology or pastoral studies.
[Notation: The focus of the vocational discernment process will involve some educational endeavor. Bishop LeBlanc believes in life long learning. If you are seeking a quick ordination, there are any number of of Autocephlaous Bishops who many be willing to ordain you.]
Upon completion of the educational requirements, the vocational discernment process, and background and reference checks individuals can be ordained.
Ordination will result in the bishop given faculties to the priest to administer the sacraments of the Catholic tradition. Faculties will be given for one year and considered for renewal each year upon pastoral review by the bishop.
Individuals who wish to expand their ministry to include pastoral care will need to undertake additional training, potentially seek certification, and secure insurance regarding this ministry.
